Betts, Walter McKinley b. February 18, 1897 d. June 13, 1987 Major League Baseball Player. Nicknamed "Huck", he pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1920 to 1925. He returned to baseball after a stint in the minor in 1932 with the Boston Braves until 1935. In his 10 year career, he went 61-68. Williams, John James b. May 17, 1904 d. January 11, 1988 John J. Williams, a longtime resident of Millsboro, was born May 17, 1904, in Frankford, DE. Before entering public service he established the Millsboro Feed Company. In 1924, he married Elsie Steele. In 1946, he served on the Millsboro Town Council. He had a passion for Delaware and American History, which he passed on through his family.
Wooten, Raymond H. 'Buddy' b. August 31, 1935 d. April 12, 2006 R&B Musician. A native of Manhattan, New York, he was the lead singer and a member of the early rhythm and blues music group, "The Mello-Moods". The group which formed in New York in the early 1950s, was one of the first black teen vocal kiddie groups, coming on the scene four years before "Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers".
