Arnold, Samuel b. June 1, 1806 d. May 5, 1869 US Congressman. He devoted most of his life to agricultural pursuits and was president of the Bank of East Haddam, Connecticut. He was a member of the State House of Representatives in 1839, 1842, 1844 and in 1851. In 1857, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fifth Congress, serving until 1859. He declined to be a candidate for re-nomination and resumed work on his plantation until his death.
