Towner, Edgar Thomas b. April 19, 1890 d. August 18, 1972 World War I British Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant, in the 2nd Battalion, Machine-Gun Corps, Australian Imperial Force. On September 1, 1918, during the assault on Mont St Quentin, France, he distinguished himself. In the early stages of the advance Towner single-handedly captured an enemy machine-gun, then brought his men forward to produce effective fire on the Germans position.
