Beecher, Frederick Henry b. June 22, 1841 d. September 17, 1868 Civil War and Indian Wars Union Officer. During the Civil War he served as a First Lieutenant with the 16th Maine Volunteers, 1862-1864. He was in action at Brook's Station, Fredericksburg and the battle of Chancellorsville. At Gettysburg, he was wounded holding position against a Confederate charge and received a citation for not surrendering the flag. Roman Nose b. 1835 d. September 17, 1868 Cheyenne Indian War Chief. His name was Woqini, for Arched Nose and he was one of the most esteemed warriors of the Plains Indian Wars of the 1860s. His bravery and fearlessness was in descriptions of the Battle of Platte Bridge and the Powder River Expedition, both in 1865.
