  World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army in Company E, 1st Battalion, 39th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on December 22, 1944 at Kalterherberg, Germany. He was presented the Medal by President Harry S. Truman at the White House on August 23, 1945.
