Anderson, Sigurd b. January 22, 1904 d. December 21, 1990 South Dakota Governor. He served as Governor of the state from 1951 to 1955. During his term Anderson eliminated the three cent sales tax and the Rural Credits debt. He provided additional aid to the public schools and to the Yankton and Redfield State Hospitals. He worked for better highways and the development of the Missouri River. He also suggested the creation of the Legislative Research Council.
