Casey, Silas b. July 12, 1807 d. January 22, 1882 Civil War Union Major General. Born in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, he began his military graduating from West Point in 1826, as Lieutenant in the 2nd US Infantry. He served in the Seminole War and was decorated for gallantry in the Mexican War. At the start of the Civil War, he was a member of an officer's board and wrote the revised tactics manual for the Infantry. Casey, Thomas Lincoln b. May 10, 1831 d. March 25, 1896 United States Army Brigadier General. Born in Sackett's Harbor, New York, he attended the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, where in 1852, he graduated first in his class, brevetted as Lieutenant of engineers. During the Civil War he was in charge of all of the coastal fortifications in the state of Maine, overseeing the construction of Fort Knox on the Penobscot River. Gregory, William b. August 3, 1849 d. December 16, 1901 Rhode Island Governor. He served as Governor of Rhode Island from 1900 to 1901. After service in the state legislature for 10 years, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island in 1898 and re-elected in 1899. He was elected Governor of the state in 1900 and re-elected in 1901. During his administration the state capital was moved from Newport to Providence.
