Lee Sr., Benjamin F. b. 1841 d. 1926 Professor and President (1876-1884) of Wilberforce University. His son, B.F. Memorial, Xenia, Ohio Tornado Victims [memorial] A tornado swept through southwestern Ohio on April 3, 1974. At Xenia and nearby Wilberforce, it left 33 people dead and millions of dollars in damage. It was one of a series of storms over two days that killed more than 300 people in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio. It was one of the worst outbreaks of tornadoes in the past 75 years. Stokes, Rembert E. b. June 16, 1917 d. May 19, 1993 President, Wilberforce University, 1956-1976. Was elected to the Bishopric of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1976. Held AME Church pastorates in Jamestown, RI, Cambridge, MA and Canton, OH. Also served as the Dean of the Payne Theological Seminary. Was also a member of the Board of Directors of the United Negro College Fund and a wide variety of other cultural and civic organizations. Walker, James J. 'Big Jim' b. May 13, 1918 d. October 1, 1975 Head football coach at Central State (Ohio) University during the fifties, sixties and seventies. As a player, he was a Big Ten star at the University of Iowa. Sherlock Knight and Mel Lunsford were among his players to advance to the professional ranks.
