Allen, Edgar Fiske b. May 8, 1862 d. September 20, 1937 Social Reformer. A descendant of Ethan Allen, was the founder of what is today known as Easter Seals. He was an advocate for crippled children and was spurred into the health care field when his son was killed at the age of 18 due to the lack of emergency care in town. Butts, George b. 1838 d. February 17, 1902 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the Union Navy during the Civil War as a Gunner's Mate on board the "USS Signal". He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery in defending the "Signal" from Confederates on the Red River, Louisiana on May 5, 1864. His citation reads "Proceeding up the Red River, the U.S.S. Chapman, Bird Beers b. August 24, 1821 d. September 21, 1871 US Congressman. Educated in public schools, he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1845 and commenced the practice of law in Elyria, Ohio. In 1850, he relocated to the Territory of Nebraska, was editor of the Omaha Nebraskan and was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fourth Congress, serving 1855 to 1857. Urry, Lewis F. b. January 29, 1927 d. October 19, 2004 Inventor. Known as "The Father of Alkaline", he was born in Pontypool, Ontario Canada.
