Faurot, Joseph A. b. October 14, 1872 d. November 20, 1942 New York City Police detective who introduced the use of finger-printing in the United States. He was the first to use fingerprints to identify a criminal, and the first to obtain a conviction with fingerprint evidence. Havens, Benjamin J. b. January 6, 1787 d. May 29, 1877 American Folk Legend. Affectionately known as "Benny" by the cadets at West Point, Mr. Havens and his wife ran a frequently visited tavern down at the river's edge below Buttermilk Falls, New York. They provided good food, flapjacks, ham, roasted fowl and flagons of hot rum and cider drinks to the "illegal" patrons from the Academy. Benny Havens Tavern became so popular that the song, "Benny Havens, Oh" was written in his honor and is still sung today by the West Point Glee Club.
