Carey, Hugh Leo b. April 11, 1919 d. August 7, 2011 51st Governor of New York, US Congressman. The son of a petroleum distributor, he attended St. John's College and following the United States' entry into World War II, he enlisted with the Army. He was elevated to the rank of major and during his service with the One Hundred Fourth Division in Europe, he received a Bronze Star, Croix de Guerre and Combat Infantry Award.
