Sadel, Alfredo b. February 22, 1930 d. June 28, 1989 Singer and Actor. Considerated the most popular Venezuelan singer of the 20th Century, known as "Venezuela´s Favourite Tenor." He recorded more than 2000 songs. In 1958 MGM hired Sadel as Mario Lanza´s sustitute. He made a handful of movies in Venezuela and Mexico, as well many tours around USA, Latin America and Europe. Tovar, Cesar b. July 3, 1940 d. July 14, 1994 Major League Baseball Player. For twelve seasons (1965 to 1976), he played at the outfielder and third-base positions with the Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees. Born Cesar Leonard Perez Tovar in Caracas, Venezuela, he was signed as an amateur free agent by the Cincinnati Reds in 1959. Uslar Pietri, Arturo b. May 16, 1906 d. February 26, 2001 Author. He is considered one of the most powerful regional writers in modern Spanish American letters. His masterpiece is the historical novel "Las Lanzas Coloradas" (1931). Among his other 50 works are "Letras y Hombres de Venezuela," "Las Nubes," "Las visiones del camino" and ohter. Vidal, Rafael b. August 20, 1965 d. February 12, 2005 Olypmic Athlete. In the 1984 Olympic Games (Los Angeles) he won the bronze medal in men´s 200-meter butterfly. After his retirement he worked for radio and T.V. as sports commentator. Also wrote a book "Los Sellos Secretos" (1999).
