Baldwin, Evelyn Briggs b. July 22, 1862 d. October 25, 1933 Arctic Explorer. He was a member of the United Nations Meteorological office from 1892 to 1900. Baldwin acted as second in command of Walter Wellmen's first American polar expedition to the archipelagos (1898 to 1899); during this expedition he discovered and explored Graham Bell Island. In 1901, he became the leader of a North Pole expedition funded by William Ziegler, an American millionaire. He later became a famous lecturer.
