Herter, Christian Archibald b. March 28, 1895 d. December 30, 1966 Statesman, editor. Served in many posts including, Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1930 to 1942. United States Congressman from Massachusetts from 1942 to 1952. Governor of Massachusetts from 1952 to 1956. Massachusetts Under Secretary from 1957 to 1959 and Secretary of State from 1959 to 1960. In 1962 he became very active in NATO affairs and headed talks with the European Common Market for President John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Newland, William D. b. January 5, 1841 d. 1914 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Ordinary Seaman in the Union Navy. His citation reads "Served on board the USS Oneida in the engagement at Mobile Bay, 5 August 1864. Roberts, Charles Church b. March 6, 1882 d. March 8, 1957 Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Machinist's Mate First Class in the United States Navy. His citation reads "Serving on board the USS North Dakota; for extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession during the fire on board that vessel, 8 September 1910."
