A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (BS, 1908) and Clark University (Ph.D., 1911), Robert Goddard was a great pioneer of the embryonic field of rocket science. Pinkham, Charles H. b. August 18, 1844 d. November 6, 1920 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Brevet Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant Major in the 57th Massachusetts Infantry for action on March 25, 1865 at Fort Stedman, Virginia. His citation reads "Captured the flag of the 57th North Carolina Infantry (C.S.A.), and saved his own colors by tearing them from the staff while the enemy was in the camp." Plunkett, Thomas b. 1841 d. March 10, 1885 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company E, 21st Massachusetts Infantry.
