Brann, Louis Jefferson b. July 6, 1876 d. February 3, 1948 Maine Governor. He was admitted to the bar in 1902 and established a law practice in Lewiston, Maine. From 1909 to 1913, he served as a Municipal Court judge and as the Mayor of Lewiston, 1915 to 1916 and 1922 to 1924. Carrigan, William 'Rough Bill' b. October 22, 1883 d. July 8, 1969 Major League Baseball Player and Manager. Born William Francis Carrigan, he grew up in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine, before attending Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1904. There he lettered in football and was the starting catcher for their baseball team. At the end of his second year, he was signed as an amateur free agent to the Boston Americans, who would later become the Boston Red Sox. Frye, William Pierce b. September 2, 1830 d. August 8, 1911 US Congressman, US Senator. Elected to represent Maine in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1871 to 1881. Also served as a Member of the Maine State House of Representatives in 1861, Mayor of Lewiston, Maine, in 1866, Maine State Attorney General in 1867, and United States Senator from Maine from 1881 to 1911. Leland, George W. b. 1834 d. March 18, 1880 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the Union Navy. His citation reads "Served on board the USS Lehigh, Charleston Harbor, 16 November 1863, during the hazardous task of freeing the Lehigh, which had grounded and was under heavy enemy fire from Fort Moultrie.
