Elected to represent Maine's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1937 until his death in 1940. Also served as a Member of the Maine State House of Representatives from 1899 to 1903, and 1919 to 1923, Member of the Maine State Senate from 1923 to 1929, and member of Maine's Governor's Council for the 4th District from 1933 to 1937.
