Smith, Charles H. b. 1826 d. February 4, 1898 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Masters Mate in the Union Navy. His citation reads "Served on board the USS Rhode Island which was engaged in saving the lives of the officers and crew of the Monitor, 30 December 1862.
