Banks, Henry E. b. June 14, 1913 d. December 18, 1994 Race Car Driver. Born in England, he began competing in 1932, when he was 19 years old and became successful in the midget cars. In 1936, he became the first driver to pass the qualifying rookie test at the Indianapolis 500 and also drove as a relief driver in 1937, 1939 and 1940, with a 21st place finish in 1938. Boswell, Charles H. b. October 31, 1909 d. December 30, 2006 Indianapolis Mayor. A native of Henderson, Kentucky, he served as the Mayor of Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1959 to 1962. Nalon, Dennis 'Duke' b. March 2, 1913 d. February 27, 2001 Race car driver. Nalon was a 16-time veteran of the Indianapolis 500 Classic. He won the pole position as the fastest qualifier in 1949 and 1951. His best finish was 3rd in 1948. He also had a Top Ten finish at 10th in 1951. Nalon was a personable driver who was a popular ambassador for automobile racing.
