Oliver, Joseph Doty b. August 20, 1850 d. August 6, 1933 Businessman. Assumed the controls of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works and continued in charge until his death in 1933. Studebaker, Clement b. March 12, 1831 d. November 27, 1901 Car Manufacturer. In 1852, he partnered with his brother to build the H and C Studebaker Company, located in South Bend, Indiana, which built carriages and heavy, broad-wheeled covered wagons called Conestoga wagons. In time, the three other brothers joined the business and the name was changed to the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company which manufactured horse-drawn vehicles. Wares, Clyde "Buzzy" b. March 23, 1886 d. May 26, 1964 Major League Baseball Player. The shortstop-second baseman had the unusual distinction of being traded to a minor-league team for the use of its stadium rent-free for spring training.
