Bruner, Louis J. b. October 6, 1834 d. January 28, 1912 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company H, 5th Indiana Cavalry for action on December 2, 1863 at Walker's Ford, Tennessee. His citation reads "Voluntarily passed through the enemy's lines under fire and conveyed to a battalion, then in a perilous position and liable to capture, information which enabled it to reach a point of safety." Shanks, John Peter Cleaver b. June 17, 1826 d. January 23, 1901 Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General, US Congressman. Prior the Civil War, he was a prosecuting attorney and a member of the Indiana State House of Representatives. At the start of the Civil War, he was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-seventh Congress, serving 1861 to 1863. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served in the Union Army as a Colonel and aide-de-camp to the 119th Regiment, 7th Indiana Calvary.
