Lowe, Enoch Louis b. August 10, 1820 d. August 23, 1892 Governor of Maryland. He served as Governor of the state from 1851 to 1854. Loew was also a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1845 and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1856. In 1860 he served as a United States presidential elector. McElroy, John b. May 14, 1782 d. September 12, 1877 Religious and Educational Leader. He moved to America at age 21, attended Georgetown University and became a Jesuit lay brother in 1806. McElroy taught at Georgetown and managed its finances until becoming a priest in 1817. In 1822 he was appointed Pastor of St. John's Church in Frederick, Maryland, where he remained for 23 years. Taney, Roger Brooke b. March 17, 1777 d. October 12, 1864 Roger was the son of Michael Taney IV and Monica Brooke. He married Ann Phoebe Charlton Key on 7 June 1806 and they had 7 children. Roger was admitted to the bar in 1799 and was elected assemblyman replacing his father in 1799. In 1801 he began law practice in Frederick MD and quickly acquired a reputation as an able attorney. Roger moved to Baltimore where he became advisor to Charles Carroll of Carrollton.
