Mason Jr., John Thomson b. May 9, 1815 d. March 28, 1873 US Congressman. Ater graduating from Princeton College in 1836, he studied law, was admitted to the bar, and established a practice in Hagerstown, Maryland. Elected to Congress as a Democrat from Maryland in 1840, he served a single term, from 1841 to 1843. Maxim, Hiram Percy b. September 2, 1869 d. February 17, 1936 "The Old Man" Hiram Percy Maxim was the Father of organized amateur (HAM) radio. In 1914 the American Radio Relay League was organized and launched by the famous inventor and "ham operator" Hiram Percy Maxim whose amateur radio call-sign was W1AW. He was also the inventor of the Maxim silencer which was the first mass produced firearms silencer, the automobile muffler, and was a pioneer in air compressor technology. He was elected to represent Maryland in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1883 to 1891. Roman, James Dixon b. August 11, 1809 d. January 19, 1867 US Congressman. After studying law, he was admitted to the bar in 1834 and established a practice in Hagerstown, Maryland. Elected as a Whig to Congress in 1846, he served a single term, from 1847 to 1849. He returned to Hagerstown and was president of the Old Hagerstown Bank from 1851 until his death in 1867. He was a member of the peace convention held in Washington, D. C., in 1861 in an effort to devise means to prevent the impending war.
