Curtis, Josiah M. b. November 16, 1844 d. June 17, 1875 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Second Lieutenant in Company I, 12th West Virginia Infantry for action at Petersburg, Virginia on April 2, 1865. His citation reads "Seized the colors of his regiment after two color bearers had fallen, bore them gallantly, and was among the first to gain a foothold, with his flag, inside the enemy's works."
