Barstow, Simon Forrester b. December 16, 1817 d. July 31, 1882 Civil War Brevet Brigadier General. With credentials from Harvard University, Barstow was practicing his profession as an attorney before the outbreak of the American Civil War. During this four year war, the Salem, Massachusetts native rendered service predominately on the staffs of various general officers. Beginning as a Volunteer Aide-de Camp to Frederick W.
