Adams, Silas b. February 9, 1839 d. May 5, 1896 Civil War Union Army Officer, US Congressman. He entered Civil War service on July 22, 1861, when he was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant of Company A, 1st Kentucky (Union) Volunteer Cavalry. He participated in the unit's battles in it's native state, in Tennessee, and during the 1864 Atlanta Campaign. First promoted to Captain and commander of Company A on June 7, 1862, he rose to commander of the regiment, being promoted to full Colonel on June 16, 1864.
