McTureous Jr., Robert Miller b. March 26, 1924 d. June 11, 1945 World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the US Marine Corps in Company H, 3rd Battalion, 29th Marines, 6th Marine Division. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands on June 7,1945, where he was killed in action. His citation reads in part "Determined to prevent further casualties, he quickly filled his jacket with hand grenades and charged the enemy-occupied caves from which the concentrated barrage was emanating.
