Davis, Charles P. b. June 5, 1872 d. May 28, 1943 Philippines Insurrection Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Entered the service at Valley City, North Dakota and served as a Private in Company G, 1st North Dakota Volunteer Infantry. Near San Isidro, Philippine Islands, May 16, 1899, he with 21 other scouts charged across a burning bridge, under heavy fire, and completely routed 600 of the enemy who were entrenched in a strongly fortified position. Sletteland, Thomas Philippine Insurrection Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Entered the service at Grafton, North Dakota and served as a Private, United States Army in Company C, 1st North Dakota Infantry. Near Paete, Luzon, Philippine Islands on April 12, 1899, he single-handed and alone defended his dead and wounded comrades against a greatly superior force of the enemy.
