Ripley, Eleazar Wheelock b. April 15, 1782 d. March 2, 1839 War of 1812 Brigadier General, US Congressman. A lawyer and politician who served in the Massachusetts legislature from 1807 to 1809, he fought in the War of 1812, being appointed Brigadier General on April 15, 1814. He was brevetted Major General on July 25, 1814, and received a Congressional Gold Medal for his services.
