Braden, Spruille b. March 13, 1894 d. January 10, 1978 US Diplomat. He served as United States Ambassador to Colombia from 1938 to 1942, to Cuba from 1942 to 1945, and Argentina in 1945. He served in the New York Assembly from 1919 to 1924 and the State Senate from 1924 to 1938. In 1938 Burchill was a member of the New York World's Fair Commission. Burns, William John b. October 19, 1860 d. April 14, 1932 FBI Director. He was appointed to the the post of Director of the Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) on August 22, 1921 and served until June 14, 1922, when he was asked to resign by Attorney General Harlan Fiske Stone. At the time of his resignation, Burns had been involved in the Teapot Dome Scandal, the secret leasing of naval oil reserve lands to private companies.
