Donelson, Daniel Smith b. June 23, 1801 d. April 17, 1863 Civil War Confederate Major General. A graduate of the US Military Academy in 1825, he was Brigadier General of the Tennessee Militia, 1829 to 1834. From 1841 to 1843 and 1855 to 1861, he was a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives. When Tennessee seceded from the Union in May 1861, he was commissioned Brigadier General in the Army of the Confederate States.
