  Poet. He was born to a family of Portuguese-Jewish descent, converted to Calvinism and became a prolific writer and strong reactionary.

• van Kinsbergen, Jan Hendrik   b. May 1, 1735  d. May 24, 1819
  Admiral Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen defeated a Turkish fleet in the Black Sea on behalf of the Russian empress Catharine the Great in 1773. Returned to Holland and fought in the battle of Dogger Bank (1781).

  Captain Jan Carel Josephus van Speyk refused to surrender his gunboat in Antwerp during the Belgian revolution in 1831, and blew himself (and his boat) to smithereens.
