Battle of Yser Memorial This commemorates the Flemish troops who held the area of the River Yser at great cost during most of the First World War. On the tower can be seen the letters AVV crossing with the letters VVK. The former stands (in Flemish) for 'All for Flanders' - the latter for 'Flanders for Christ'.
