Douglas, Sir. James b. August 15, 1803 d. August 2, 1877 First Colonial Governor of British Columbia. Governor of Colony of Vancouver Island (1851-1863), First Governor of the Colony of British Columbia (1858-1864). Established the Hudson's Bay Co. at Fort Victoria, 1843.
