  Religious Leader. He founded of the first Roman Catholic church in Strasbourg, France, and was its first Bishop.

• Maurice de Saxe    b. 1696  d. 1750
  son of Augustus the Strong of Saxony, and one of the leading generals of Louis XV of France. In particular he won the decisive victory of Fontenoy. As he was a foreigner, a bastard and a Protestant, Louis could not have him buried, as he wished, in one of the leading churches in Paris. So St. Thomas, the leading Protestant church in the kingdom, was chosen. The magnificent monument was commissioned from he sculptor Jean Baptiste Pigalle.
