Kleber, Jean Baptiste [ashes] b. March 9, 1753 d. June 14, 1800 French Army General. Starting in the ranks of the French Revolutionary Army, he rose to be one of its most successful generals (Vendee, Heliopolis). In 1799 he was placed in command of the army in Egypt by the returning Napoleon. Shortly afterwards in Cairo he was assassinated in mysterious circumstances.
