Plath, Sylvia b. October 27, 1932 d. February 11, 1963 Author, Poetess. The daughter of Aurelia and Otto Plath, Sylvia's father died when she was eight, a trauma that affected her deeply for the rest of her life and became the subject of one of her best known poems, "Daddy."
