• Downs, Solomon Weathersbee    b. 1801  d. August 14, 1854
  Democrat politician from Louisiana. He served in the US Senate from 1847-1853. He died on August 14, 1854 in Crab orchard Springs, Kentucky and was originally buried on his family plantation there. His remains were later moved to Monroe, Louisiana. (Bio by: Tim Crutchfield)

  US Congressman. He was born in Pelican, Louisiana, attended Louisiana State University and served with the National Guard on the Mexican border during the 1916 Villa expedition. During World War I he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 156th Infantry Regiment and served in France.
