  US Congressman. Born in Waynesboro, Georgia, he moved with his family to Texas in 1859 and settled in Milam County eight years later. After graduating from the University of Georgia at Athens in 1874, he was admitted to the bar and established a legal practice in Cameron, Texas, his home base for the rest of his life.   During a brief but prolific twenty-two-year career (1915-37), she won international acclaim in the fields of commercial graphic art and costume design for stage and film in New York, London, and Paris. She made around 5,000 finished drawings, designed graphics and costumes for at least 119 stage productions for both theater and cabaret, and costumed 47 films.

• Crawford, William Lyne   b. January 23, 1839  d. February 17, 1920
  Civil War Confederate Army Officer. Served in the Civil War as Lieutenant Colonel in the 19th Texas Infantry. Member of the Constitutional Convention of 1875; member of the Texas state house of representatives, 1891-92. He was also a noted criminal and civil lawyer who tried cases of nationwide importance.

  Major League Baseball Player. Born in Palestine, Texas, he was a second baseman and a outfielder making his debut for the Boston Braves on September 13, 1913. For six seasons, he played for the Boston Braves (1913-14, 1920) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1915-17). Used mostly as a utility player, he ended his career with a record of 54 hits, 45 runs scored, 1 homerun, 20 runs batted in and a .194 batting average. He died at age 78 in Dallas, Texas.
