Wells, Jacob 'Jake' b. August 9, 1863 d. March 16, 1927 Major League Baseball Player. He was a catcher for the Detroit Wolverines in 1888. He played in 16 games and in 57 at-bats he had nine hits. Two years later, he played with the St. Louis Browns of the American Association. There, he caught 28 games and also played three games in the outfield.
