  Author. Walter Burke Davis, Jr, known as Burke Davis to his many readers, started his career in journalism and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation, he worked for a number of newpapers in the Charlotte and Baltimore areas before returning to Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1960 he moved to Virginia where he spent the next 20 years working for Colonial Williamsburg, Inc. as a special projects writer.
