Bradham, Caleb Davis b. May 27, 1867 d. February 19, 1934 Pharmacist. He is best remembered as the inventor of Pepsi-Cola. Born in Chinquapin, North Carolina, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Ransom, Robert b. February 12, 1828 d. January 14, 1892 Civil War Confederate Major General. Born in North Carlolina, he graduated from West Point in 1850 and served as an officer in the 1st Dragoons on the Western Frontier. At the start of the Civil War, he resigned his commission and was appointed a Captian in the Confederate Cavarly in early 1861. Simmons, Furnifold McLendel 'F.M.' b. January 20, 1854 d. April 30, 1940 US Congressman, US Senator. He was elected as a Representative from North Carolina to the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1887 to 1889. In 1901, he was elected as a Senator from North Carolina to the United States Senate, serving for thirty years until he left office in 1931. Williams, William Joseph b. November 17, 1759 d. November 30, 1823 Williams was a colonial artist. He was the son of the artist and author, William Williams 1727-1791 and the nephew of the artist, mason and politician, John Mare, Jr. 1738-1804. Williams painted the portraits of the first three Presidents of the United States, George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson when they were in Philadelphia and were President, Vice President and Secretary of State respectively.
