Ruggles, Benjamin b. 1783 d. 1857 US Senator. Known as the "wheel-horse of the Senate" because of his untiring work habits he represented the state of Ohio as a US Senator from 1815 to 1833. Weems, Capell Lane b. July 7, 1860 d. January 5, 1913 US Congressman. Born in Whigville, Noble County, Ohio, this Republican was a successful prosecuting attorney for Noble County in 1884 and nearby Belmont County from 1890 to 1896. In between holding those two positions he briefly served in the state legislature and lived in Cleveland before returning to Southeastern Ohio.
