  College Football Coach. He was the head football coach at the University of Virginia from 1965 to 1970. Prior to assuming the the head coaching duties at Virginia, he was the head football coach at Miami University of Ohio in 1948 and the head football coach at the University of Cincinnati from 1955 to 1960. He also served as an assistant coach at Army in 1954 before accepting the head coaching position at the University of Cincinnati.   Hall of Fame Professional Football Executive. He organized the National Professional Football League in 1920 and was elected its first president in 1921, serving until 1939.   Major League Baseball Player. The outfielder played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1905 to 1906 and the Cleveland Naps from 1907 to 1909, but he enjoyed his most success with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1915 to 1920. The stocky 5-foot-11, 190-pound right-handed batter hit .307 in 1915 with 33 doubles, 14 triples and 77 runs batted in.
