Logan Jr., John Alexander b. July 24, 1865 d. November 11, 1899 Philippine Insurrection Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born Manning Alexander Logan in Carbondale, Illinois, he served as a Major in the 33rd Volunteer Infantry, US Army. In actions at San Jacinto, Philippine Islands, November 11, 1899, Major Logan was killed while leading his battalion against heavy armed entrenchments of the enemy. Tod, David b. February 21, 1805 d. November 13, 1868 25th Onio Governor. Born near Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of noted judge George Tod. He attended Burton Academy in Ohio and passed the bar in 1827. Entering local politics, he, took a seat in the Ohio state senate as a Democrat in 1838. He was appointed Minister to Brazil by President James K. Polk in 1847. Ten years later he returned to Youngstown to oversee his growing coal and iron business.
