Garfield, James Rudolph b. October 17, 1865 d. March 24, 1950 Presidential Cabinet Secretary. The second son of 20th United States President James Garfield, he was a successful lawyer in Cleveland, Ohio. He eceived several notable political commissions, including appointment to the United States Civil Service Commission, Commissioner of corporations in the Department of Commerce and Labor, and ultimately as United States Secretary of the Interior under President Theodore Roosevelt.
