Campbell, James Alexander b. May 8, 1832 d. February 4, 1864 Civil War Confederate Army Officer. Entered the Civil War as Major of the 27th Mississippi Infantry regiment, eventually being promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, then Colonel of the unit when it's original commander, Colonel Thomas Marshall Jones, resigned in March 1863. He led his troops in the Battles of Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain. In the last battle a detatchment under his were cut of and captured in the intial Union assaults. Henagan, John Williford b. November 22, 1822 d. April 22, 1865 Civil War Confederate Army Officer. Born in Marlboro County, South Carolina, his career before the war included being elected to the South Carolina Legislature and as Sheriff of Marlboro, South Carolina. He entered Confederate service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the 8th South Carolina Infantry on April 13, 1861 (the day after the firing on Fort Sumter), and was promoted to Colonel and commander of the regiment on May 14, 1862.
