Babartsky, Albert J. b. April 19, 1915 d. December 29, 2002 Al Bart, a member of Fordham University’s famed Seven Blocks of Granite defensive line. He played at Fordham from 1935-37. At Fordham, the Shenandoah, PA, native played by the name Al Babartsky but later shortened his last name because people frequently misspelled it. In his three years at Fordham, the Rams went 18-2-5 and finished his final season ranked No. 3 in the country. He played six years in the NFL with the Chicago Cardinals and Chicago Bears until 1947. Stein, Tony b. September 30, 1921 d. March 1, 1945 World War II Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in Company A, 1st Battalion, 28th Marines 5th Marine Division. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on February 1945 at Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands. Whalen Jr., Charles William b. July 31, 1920 d. June 27, 2011 US Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served Ohio's 3rd District in the US House of Representatives from 1967 until 1979. He attained his degree in Business Administration from the University of Dayton in 1942 and served with the US Army during World War II. Upon returning home, he continued his studies at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and served as vice president of the Dayton Dress Company.
