Chato, Chief Alfred b. 1860 d. August 13, 1934 Native American Tribal Chief. A Chiricahua (Great Mountain) Apache Chief and warrior, he led raiding-parties along with Apache Chiefs, Bonito, Victorio, and Geronimo killing settlers in New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexican territories. Eventually he surrendered along with Bonito to General George Crook and components of his 6th Calvary on May 29, 1883.
