Played Major League baseball for 17 seasons (1935 to 1951) as an Outfielder for the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox, and Boston Red Sox. Coming up with the A’s in 1935, he would be one of the few stars on the bottom-dwelling Athletics teams of the mid-to-late 1930s.
